BMRF Charity Autumn Reception 2021

Updated: Jul 11, 2022

Our 2021 reception took place the evening of November 18 in the Lumley Library at the Royal College of Surgeons of England, in the presence of our Royal Patron, the Princess Royal

We welcomed our Patrons, supporters and almost all of the grant recipients that the foundation has funded since its partnership with RCS England in 2017. We were also honoured to be joined by our Royal Patron, the Princess Royal who met with many of the guests and alongside our other attendees was given a snap shot of the innovative research taking place with the support of the Foundation.

Guests enjoyed a glass of wine, canapés and the rare opportunity to gain insight from those actually doing the vital research in support of our objectives of burns, wound healing and reconstructive surgery. Gordon Bebb, Trustee thanked supporters and champions of the Foundation, whilst highlighting the impact the Foundation’s work continues to have. The speaker was Cynthia De Courcey the BMRF Research Fellow for 2021 speaking on her project “Biocompatibility of Novel 3D-bioprinted Cartilage”. The speeches were closed by Professor Neil Mortensen, Trustee to the Foundation and current President of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Poster presentations on the evening featured current projects including “Tissue Engineering of small blood vessels” and “Preventing the scars of radiotherapy” Thank you to all who attended.
